Q

My father is 78 and recently had a major stroke. He has been in a stroke unit for the past nine weeks and I have been told he will have to go into a nursing home. Will he lose his state and private pension incomes when he goes into care?

A

Your father's state and private pension will provide an income for him whether he is at home or in care. Each will continue to be paid into his nominated bank account.

He may even be able to claim additional non-meanstested benefits such as attendance allowance. It is paid whenever an individual needs one-to-one care and is paid in addition to any pension income.
