Deal of the week: Travel from London to Amsterdam by Eurostar for £35

You can get up to 18 days off over the Easter period for just nine days of annual leave by booking your days off strategically.

What is the deal exactly?

By booking annual leave strategically around the bank holidays in May and April you can get 18 days off in a row using just nine days of holiday.

This should give you plenty of time to enjoy what hopefully will be warmer weather.

Good Friday falls on 19 April this year with Easter Monday on the 22 April. The May Day bank holiday is on 6 May.

What you need to do is book 23 to 26 April off and then from 29 April to the 3 May.

However, you will only be able to do it if you work the standard Monday to Friday and don’t have to work bank holidays.

What’s the catch?

What are you going to do with all this time off?

Eurostar has launched a huge sale with over 100,000 seats available from just £29 each way.

The offer includes destinations such as Paris, Brussels, Lille or Calais for less than cost of getting a train to and from the airport.

For £35 each way, travellers can take advantage of Eurostar’s new service direct to the Netherlands, whether to explore Rotterdam’s contemporary architecture and cuisine, or the museums and canals of Amsterdam.

Why should I care?

If you are planning an Easter getaway the Eurostar deal is a great way of cutting your costs.

What’s the catch?

Tickets are available from £29 for booking until 21 January, so you will have to get in quick if you want to beat the rush.

It could work out cheaper to fly, especially if you live far away from London.

Use a price comparison website to see how much each mode of transport would cost.

While the price of a flight can often be less than the train, you should factor in the cost of travel to the airport – which can sometimes cost more than the flight itself, and possibly other considerations such as the experience and environmental impact.

What other options do I have?

If you are looking to save some money on a holiday, Thomas Cook is offering £100 free travel money with any Thomas Cook holiday

To claim the offer, holidaymakers need to visit a Thomas Cook store and book a package holiday at a Thomas Cook hotel.

The £100 travel money will be issued on a Lyk prepaid Mastercard once the full cost of the holiday has been paid.

However, to get the money you will have to spend a minimum of £2,000 and the offer is only available for a limited period.

Where can I find out more?

You can find out more information about the Eurostar deals on its website.
