The best deals on Christmas trees revealed: Here's where you can pick up a bargain

3 December 2018

It is that time of year again to start thinking about putting up your Christmas tree.

There are some great deals out there for Christmas trees that might interest you.

When you buy a £25 tree at IKEA you will get back a £20 voucher to spend, cutting the overall cost of the festive essential to £5.

IKEA says it will only be stocking locally-sourced Nordman fir trees from Scotland (for stores in Scotland and England) and Wales (for IKEA Cardiff). The offer is available until 24 December.

Nordman trees are by far the most popular Christmas tree in Britain and don’t shed needles when you bring them into your home. Prices typically range from around £30 to £60.

Lidl is selling Nordman fir Christmas trees for £16.99 in a pot and £19.99 for a freshly cut one.

They are ideal for family decorating and both trees have strong but soft needles which Lidl says will help save on the hoovering too.

The trees are between five to six feet tall and are grown sustainably in the Scottish Highlands.

You can even track their tree online to find out exactly where it was grown.

Your local garden centre is a good bet if you want a Christmas tree and they usually have a good range to suit any budget.

A medium cut Nordman fir will set you back £36 at Homebase, while a medium cut Nordman fir at B&Q costs £36.

The traditional Christmas tree in the UK has always been the Norway spruce, but sales of this have dropped in recent years as demand for the Nordman fir has soared.

Usually cheaper than the Nordman, you can get a medium cut spruce for £26 at B&Q.

If you are looking for something a little bit more expensive John Lewis has a Korean fir for £75. These are quite rare in the UK and only a few plantations grow them.

The needles are mid green, with a silvery underside and they have a naturally slimmer shape that Nordmann fir trees.

Opting for an artificial tree could help you make savings in the long term as well as saving you the trouble of having to dispose of the tree in the New Year.

Argos currently has a six feet tall Christmas tree with 25% off at £15.

Marks and Spencer also has a six feet tree for £35 that comes with baubles and lights.
