Homes in the city take 96 days to sell

Home sellers in Edinburgh have the good fortune of selling in the fastest-moving property market in the UK.

The average house in Edinburgh takes 22 days from listing to go under offer according to property website Zoopla.

The Scottish capital’s neighbour, Glasgow came second averaging 27 days.

Cardiff came in third with an average time of 32 days. However, Wales more widely is the slowest-selling region, averaging 55 days to go from listing to under offer. Scotland comes in joint first (38 days average) with West Midlands and the East Midlands is third at 40 days.

London takes a painstaking 54 days. However, London suburbs such as Bexley take just 36 days to go under offer on average.

Lawrence Hall, spokesperson for Zoopla comments: “Prospective buyers and sellers should find this info helpful as it will give them a good idea of where the homes are in demand.

“It’s also interesting to see Scotland’s dominance in the list, indicative of the cooling property market in the south of the country; with this in mind, it’s worth noting how London’s properties take seven days longer to sell than the national average”.
