Diners can save over £300 a year using CompareTheMarket’s new dining perk reward scheme.
What’s the deal exactly?
Purchase a qualifying product through comparison website CompareTheMarket and you’ll receive free membership to Meerkat Meals. This gives you access to two for one on starters, mains and dessert every Sunday to Thursday for a whole year at selected restaurants.
Examples of well-known participating restaurants include Café Rouge, Bella Italia, Belgo, La Tasca, Pizza Hut, Prezzo, Ask Italian, Handmade Burger Company, Giraffe, Zizzi and Strada.
Why should I care?
Eating out is pricey! For example, recent research found that parents spend £584 on average keeping kids busy over the summer. Meerkat meals will make some restaurant trips more affordable.
According to CompareTheMarket, this membership can save diners up to £300 over the course of 12 months.
What’s the catch?
You can only gain membership by making a ‘qualifying purchase’ on CompareTheMarket’s website. The company stipulates that a qualifying purchase is as follows:
- Purchase: car insurance, motorcycle insurance, van insurance, contents and/or buildings insurance, pet insurance, life insurance, landlord insurance or travel insurance;
- Switch: domestic energy (gas and/or electric), broadband, home telephone or digital TV;
- Obtain: a credit card or loan, mobile phone contract or Sim-only contract;
The following do not qualify for the offer: business insurance, breakdown cover, business energy, mortgages, savings accounts, current accounts, health insurance and income protection insurance.
What are my other options?
CompareTheMarket also offers membership to Meerkat Movies alongside Meerkat Meals. This entitles the holder to two for one cinema tickets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week at participating cinemas.
Alternatively, GoCompare offers a membership to Dine worth £49.99, - a similar scheme to Meerkat Meals, which has been a past Moneywise deal of the week.
Moneywise also updates a list of the top 10 cheap eating voucher codes weekly on a Friday.
