Deal of the week: Warm up for the England game by saving on Swedish meatballs

6 July 2018

Football fans and furniture shoppers alike can get two meals for the price of one this Saturday at Ikea.

What’s the deal exactly?

Famous Swedish retailer Ikea is offering two-for-one meals called the ‘Plate of Two Halves’ for visitors to their retail outlets on Saturday, 9 July. Buy a Swedish meatball dish and a get fish and chips meal for free.

The next day, the retailer will be offering a ‘Lunch of Champions’ with the winning country’s dish available for just £1 all day to celebrate. Ikea will also be offering an 11% discount on outdoor furniture on Sunday.

Why should I care?

Because football is coming home! Or at least, England is doing quite well for a change. So why not sample some of the opposition’s cuisine, while shopping for flatpack furniture?

Fish and chips normally cost £4.50 and are breaded cod with chips and peas (certified by the Marine Stewardship Council). Ten Swedish meatballs cost £3.95 and come with mashed potato, gravy and lingonberry jam.

What’s the catch?

The Plate of Two Halves offer is only available on Saturday after 11am. The Lunch of Champions offer is available all day on Sunday.

What are the other options?

If you don’t want to make the trip to Ikea, you can get good offers on eating out through our weekly selection of the best cheap eats voucher codes.
