John Lewis has launched ‘The Residence’, its first fully furnished pop-up in-store apartment, where customers can take ‘try before you buy’ to a whole new level.
Available at its branches in London’s Oxford Street, Cambridge, and Liverpool until 18 October, The Residence will be open daily for customers to experience the John Lewis lifestyle, from trying out a sofa to lying on the bed – and everything on show is for sale.
A select number of customers in London can also take the experience one step further and be an overnight guest in John Lewis’ one-bedroom apartment at 300 Oxford Street, with an indoor terrace overlooking Cavendish Square, which has been valued at £2 million by Savills.
Shoppers can apply for an overnight stay, which includes private use of the apartment from 6.30pm until 9am the following day. Lucky guests can also choose from either 60 minutes’ after-hours private shopping time of the whole store with a personal shopper or a tour behind the scenes of areas that are usually restricted to customers, such as the underground stockroom. A Waitrose breakfast basket and newspapers will be delivered in the morning. Sleepovers will also be available at the store’s Liverpool and Cambridge apartments.
Inside the apartment
Customers in Oxford Street can also request to host a dinner party for up to 10 people, catered for by a top chef with a mixologist providing their favourite cocktails, while, customers in Cambridge and Liverpool can apply to host a private brunch on Saturdays for up to six guests
Learn new skills
Customers who don’t win an overnight or dining experience can attend free customer workshops during the day, learning how to pick the right duvet and pillow, how to create mood lighting or set a table for a dinner party.
For a chance of a sleepover, dinner or brunch, visit the store’s concierge team in John Lewis’s Oxford Street, Cambridge or Liverpool stores next weekend (23 to 24 September) to apply.
