First Direct has launched a new cashback deal in partnership with Visa, meaning many account holders can earn now money back as they spend with selected retailers.
All First Direct customers who hold a Visa credit or debit card are able to sign up for the offer.
Retailers involved with the scheme at launch include Boots, Costa, Esso, H&M and Lidl. However, the list of retailers and cashback offers is not fixed and can vary from week to week.
Current offers include £10 cashback on a spend of £40 or more at either Lidl and H&M, £5 back on a purchase of £40 or more with Esso and £3 back on a spend of £8 or more at Costa.
To sign up, First Direct customers must use the Visa Offers website. Up to five cards can be registered by each account holder and cashback earned will be paid into a nominated account within five working days. You also need to activate each offer before you can use it – cashback deals won’t automatically apply.
What are the best credit cards for cashback?
If you’re looking for a credit card that earns cashback on all spending, the American Express Platinum Cashback Everyday Card has an introductory offer of 5% cashback on spending up to £100 for the first three months. After that, cardholders will earn 1% cashback on spending over £5,001 per year and 0.5% if they spend below this amount. The card has a representative interest rate of 22.9% APR variable.
Another option is the Aqua Reward Credit Card. Customers receive 0.5% cashback on all spending up to a limit of £100 per year. This card is designed for those with a poor credit history (although anyone can apply) so beware of the high interest rate. Pay this card off in full every month to avoid paying the representative 34.9% APR variable on your balance.
If you want to earn reward points there are six Moneywise Best Buys to choose from. The Amazon Platinum Credit Card, Asda Money Cashback Credit Card, John Lewis Partnership Card, M&S Bank Shopping Plus Credit Card, Sainsbury's Bank Nectar Purchase Credit Card, and the Tesco Bank Clubcard Credit Card are all worth considering – depending on where you shop.
