Moneywise users open to electric car revolution

1 September 2017

Four in 10 (44%) users would consider buying an electric car in future, even though they don’t have one at present, according to our latest poll results.

The findings come as the government confirmed in July that it will end the sale of all new conventional petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2040 in a bid to tackle air pollution.

Moneywise will examine whether you should join the electric car revolution in our October issue – so keep an eye out for it in WHSmith.

However, despite the government’s attempted crackdown on air pollution, just 3% of those who voted in our poll already own an electric car.

A further 38% said they don’t own an electric car at present and have no interest in buying one in future.

Meanwhile, just over one in 10 (16%) conceded that while they wouldn’t buy an all-electric car, they do currently have a hybrid vehicle or they would buy a hybrid in future.

See the pie chart below for the full results.
