Over half of Moneywise users have never checked their credit score

Over half (55%) of Moneywise.co.uk users have never checked their credit score, according to our recent poll.

Credit scores give you an indication of how likely providers are to lend you credit, such as loans, mortgages or credit cards. The scores are determined by credit reference agencies – the main ones being Equifax and Experian.

However, while 55% of Moneywise users have never checked their score, over four in 10 (45%) do so on a semi-regular basis.

This is broken up between a quarter (25%) who check their score once a month, over one in 10 (13%) who check their score annually, and 5% who check theirs before every credit application. Only 1% of those polled said they check their score weekly.
