Scooby-Doo… where are you? It turns out our favourite crime fighting canine has taken a trip to the bank as Halifax unveils its latest advertising campaign.
Scooby, Shaggy, and the rest of the gang from the Mystery Machine appear in the bank’s latest advert, which began to be broadcast this week.
In the advert, Scooby hides from an evil mummy by taking shelter in a nearby branch. Our hero then finds out about the bank’s range of current account rewards, before the gang enjoy pizza and unmask the villainous mummy.
The advert takes place in Halifax’s London Hanover branch and real Halifax staff feature as extras.
Scooby-Doo follows in the footsteps of Top Cat and the Flintstones by starring in a Halifax television advert. The bank’s Top Cat campaign was ranked as one of the most memorable bank adverts of 2016 by industry expert Adwatch.
Halifax rate cut
However, it’s not all fun and games as customers with a Halifax or Bank of Scotland Reward Current Account will see their monthly reward lowered from the start of next month.
From 1 February, the reward will be reduced from £5 to £3. The same change also applies to the fee-paying Ultimate Reward Current Account.
The move comes amid a slew of current account providers scaling back their rewards.
Russell Galley, managing director at Halifax, says: “Scooby-Doo is the third iconic character to feature in our re-energised advertising campaign, dialling up our desire to stand apart from other banks and be on the side of our customers.”
