Comparison website Comparethemarket.com is the new provider of 2-for-1 cinema tickets following the end of the popular Orange Wednesday offer.
The insurance website is to launch 'Meerkat Movies' - named after its famous advertising campaign – and will roll out the year-long ticket offer available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to existing customers first from this weekend.
New customers buying a policy such as a single trip travel insurance from as little at £25.44 will be able to take up the offer from 3 April.
On average, cinema tickets in the UK cost £6.72, according to the comparison site, so film buffs catching a movie every week could save £324.99 a year with the special promotion.
Cinema-goers will be able to access the new offer by downloading the free Meerkat Movies app that will provide codes against which the tickets can be redeemed.
Mark Vile, marketing director at comparethemarket.com, said: "We are committed to helping our customers save money… We've always seen the importance of rewarding the people that use our site and so we hope families and friends across the UK will take advantage of Meerkat Movies and enjoy the cinema experience for less, simply by being a comparethemarket.com customer."
However, comparethemarket.com isn't the only company in the insurance world offering customers free cinema tickets. Vitality Health (formerly PruProtect) is offering health-conscious customers a free weekly ticket to Cineworld and Vue cinemas in return for getting active. To be eligible for the offer, members have to earn nine 'Vitality points' from undertaking various activities.
EE's Orange Wednesdays finished in February after running for 12 years.
