In order to help you and your family remain safe, Moneywise is now listing the consumer products that have been recalled by manufacturers and retailers.

If you've purchased any of the below items recently, contact the company suggested to check whether you are entitled to a replacement or a refund.

WEEK BEGINNING MONDAY 22 JUNE

Next: Fish Face sandals

The clothes retailer has recalled these children's shoes due to a potential choking hazard – the 3D eyes on the Crocs-like sandals could fall off, with the possibility that young children could choke or gag on the small pieces.

Next therefore recommends that children immediately stop using the product and parents should contact it on 0333 777 8185 to arrange a collection. Alternatively, the shoes can be returned them to a local store for a full refund.

Asda: Prawn salad

The supermarket says there is undeclared shellfish in its Prawn Salad, making the product a risk to people with shellfish allergies. The label says it contains tuna rather than shellfish.

The affected products are those with the best before date of 21 June 2015 and the barcode: 505244991685.

Strangely, Asda says it doesn't believe it has sold any of the product but says if you have purchased it, take it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.

Sainsbury's: Canned vegetable ravioli

The supermarket's Canned Vegetable Ravioli In Tomato & Herb Sauce (400g tins) with the best before date of 'Oct 2016'.

This is because the product may contain soya and celery that is not declared on the packaging. As a precautionary measure, it is therefore asking all customers who have bought the product to return it to their nearest Sainsbury's store, where they will receive a full refund.

Asda: Chosen by You strawberry cheesecake

This time, Asda has recalled packs of its 'Chosen by You' Strawberry Cheesecake because a small number - with the best before date of 13 and 14 July 2016 - may have been incorrectly packed with some chocolate cheesecake, which contains soya.

Soya is not declared on the packaging and therefore these packs have the potential to cause an adverse reaction in people who are allergic to soya.

Return the packs - that also have the barcode 505244915252 - to your nearest Asda store for a full refund.

Debenhams: Faith metal high heel court shoe

It has come to Debenhams' attention that the heel attachment on its Faith metal high heel court shoe has fallen below its "rigorous quality standards" and may therefore detach during wear.

As this is a potential trip hazard, the retailer is recalling the products as a precautionary measure "to ensure the safety of its customers".

The shoes were sold in UK and ROI stores as well as online between 1 February and 19 May 2015 and were available in blue and grey.

Customers who have purchased any of these products, or received them as a gift are asked to stop using them immediately and return the item to any Debenhams store for a full refund.

WEEK BEGINNING MONDAY 11 APRIL

Waitrose: Creamy, Golden Smoked Haddock in Cheese Sauce

As a precautionary measure, Waitrose is recalling the above product because some packs may possibly contain small pieces of metal (no other batches are affected). It is only products with the use by dates of 13 May, 14 May, and 15 May that are affected.

Any customers who have bought the above product should not consume it but return it to Waitrose for a full refund.

Morrisons: Carrot & Swede Mash

The supermarket has advised that 500g packs (costing £1.79) with a use by date of 12 May to 16 May inclusive, have been recalled.

It says there is a possibility that some packs may contain small pieces of metal. So if you have one of the affected packs, do not eat it but instead return it to your nearest store for a full refund.

No other products or date codes are affected by the issue.

IKEA: PATRULL KLÄMMA and PATRULL SMIDIG safety gates

The Swedish furniture manufacturer and retailer has recalled these pressure-mounted safety gates due to a "fall hazard" if used at the top of a staircase.

IKEA has received reports where the friction between the wall and the pressure mounted safety gate has been insufficient to hold the gate in its intended position. In addition, the lower metal bar could constitute a tripping hazard.

There have even been three reports identifying where children have been injured as a result of falling down stairs.

However, customers can still use them in a doorway between rooms or at the bottom of a staircase – and IKEA can send updated user instructions and new adhesive warning labels to put on the safety gates should you wish to do so.

Other customers can return their PATRULL KLÄMMA or PATRULL SMIDIG safety gate and receive a full refund at the Customer Returns Department in their nearest IKEA. Or they can swap them for the PATRULL or PATRULL FAST safety gate, which are suitable for the top of the stairs.

Bear in mind, this recall notice only affects products with a date stamp of "5010" or earlier, since all newer models will include updated user instructions and updated adhesive warning labels for the gate.

Sainsburys: Potato-containing chilled ready meals

The supermarket says a small number of products from its broad range of its chilled ready-meals that contain potato could contain tiny metal pieces.

It is therefore recalling all potato-containing ready meal lines produced by this supplier – to view the full list of meals that have been recalled, click here.

It is asking all customers who have bought this product to return it to their nearest Sainsbury's store, where they will receive a full refund.

Tesco: potato salads

Tesco is also recalling potato-containing meals for the same reason. The products affected are: Tesco Finest Charlotte Potato Salad 275g, Tesco Finest Coleslaw and Potato Salad 400g, Tesco Potato Salad 300g/600g, Tesco Healthy Living Salad 300g and Tesco Coleslaw and
Potato Salad Twin Pack 500g as they may contain small pieces of metal.

Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. Instead, if you have bought one of these products with the 'use by' dates listed below, do not eat it.

WEEK BEGINNING MONDAY 20 APRIL

Lidl: Emotionali Toffee Selektion

Lidl UK is recalling its Emotionali Toffee Selektion due to the presence of milk only being declared in German, making it a risk to milk allergy sufferers (at least, those who do not speak German).

The affected products are 600g packs with the Best Before Date of 04.12.15 only. If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to milk, do not eat it. Instead, return it to a Lidl UK store for a full refund.

Galaxy Cookie Crumble Chocolate Bars

Mars Chocolate UK says its Galaxy Cookie Crumble chocolate bars (114g bars with the 'Best Before' end date of 16 August 2015 and batch codes PB21, PB22 and PB23) might, worryingly, contain a small piece of white plastic.

Co-operative: 'Loved By Us' Tandoori Chicken Slices

The retailer has recalled packs of these chicken slices because they contain a tandoori marinade which contains milk allergens, posing a health risk to those with specific allergies.

The affected products have the Use By dates of 14/04/15 to 20/04/15 inclusive.
If you suffer from milk intolerance or allergy do not eat the product. Instead, telephone the Co-op's Customer Careline on 0800 0686 727 to arrange for a full refund.

Lidl: Deluxe Mature Cheddar with Pickled Onions & Chives

The discount supermarket is recalling 100g packs of this cheese that have the use by date of 8th June 2015 only, due to the undeclared presence of sulphites. It means the product is a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy to sulphites.

If you have bought the product and have an allergy to sulphites, do not eat it. Instead, return it to a Lidl UK store for a full refund.

Wine Society: Ottoventi Punto 8 2013

The Food Standards Agency says bottles of the Wine Society's Ottoventi Punto 8 2013 are being recalled because the glass bottle neck may break when trying to pull out the cork.

The affected bottles have the 'lot number': OT3014.

As the product has been sold via mail order only, the Wine Society should have records of all customers that purchased the bottles and has contacted them by letter and email to inform them of the recall.

If you have bought the above product, do not open it. Instead, contact member services at the Wine Society to arrange a collection and refund/credit.

Young's: Jumbo Seafood Sticks

The manufacturer says a small number of 200g packs of its chilled Jumbo Seafood Sticks have poor packaging seals and "may lead to accelerated product deterioration ahead of the prescribed Use By Date".

The only affected packs are those with the Use By Date code of 23-05-15, which can be found on the base of the pack – which have been sold by Asda and Sainsbury's.

Customers are advised not to consume the product. Affected products purchased at Asda and Sainsbury's, may be returned to these stores without a receipt for a full refund.

Netto: Aruna Sweet Paprika

Netto is recalling packs of Aruna Sweet Paprika because it has tested positive for almond protein. This makes the product a possible health risk for anyone who is allergic or intolerant to almond.

If you have purchased a 50g pack with the 'Best before' end date of October 2017, do not eat it. Instead, return it to your nearest Netto store for a full refund.

WEEK BEGINNING MONDAY 30 MARCH

Asda: Spiderman Light-Up Dress-Up Costume - recall

The supermarket is recalling this children's fancy dress costume because the wrong batteries have been included inside its removable light up unit. This is a potential safety issue.

The recall affects Spiderman Light-Up Dress-Up costumes age 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14 years, priced at £12.50. They have an identification number of: 323-3231-0900-001.

If you have one, you should return the costume with the original batteries back to Asda for a full refund. Call Asda customer relations for more: 0800 952 0101.

Tesco: Stainless Steel Ball Whisk

Tesco says it has been made aware of incidents where the balls have detached from the whisk during use – clearly a safety risk if the user does not realise stainless steel balls have dropped into their food.

Ball whisks of all batch codes have been affected, so you should stop using the product and return it to your nearest Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required.

Next: Gold Glitter Decorative Pillar Candle

This rather pretty candle has been pulled by the retailer because it has failed its "candle safety standards" and may be unsafe. The affected product has the code 691820 and was priced at £5.

Return the candle to your nearest – you do not need a receipt – for a full refund. If you have given the candle as a gift, the recipient can also return it to a local store without a receipt.

Smyths Toys: 3ft Air Hockey Table

The toy retailer says this 3ft Air Hockey Table, which has been on sale in Smyths Toys Superstores since 30 August 2014, needs to be recalled immediately due to a potential electrical fault.

The dodgy tables are those with the item number: SUA - 3618SM. Return it to your local Smyths Toys Superstore for a refund or an alternative replacement product.

Wilko: Children's Wild West Hat

The retailer says it has become aware of a potential safety issue with this hat – independent testing has shown that the cord of the hat can pose a potential strangulation hazard to children.

You are able to continue using the hat if the cord is removed completely. Failing that, return it to any of Wilko's stores for a full refund.

The affected hat has the item code: 0336213.

Sainsbury's: Mrs Unis Indian Snacks

The supermarket says a limited number of the packs identified below may have the incorrect 'Use by' date printed on them. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, it is asking all customers who have bought these products to return them to their nearest Sainsbury's store, where they will receive a full refund.

The affected products are:

  • Mrs Unis Chicken Pakora with dip (labelled 24/03/2015)
  • Mrs Unis Onion Bhaji with dip (labelled 24/03/2015)
  • Mrs Unis Vegetable Pakora with dip (labelled 24/03/2015).

MaxiNutrition Cyclone Milk 330ml

Manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare has recalled all 330ml ready-to-drink bottles of its MaxiNutrition Cyclone Milk due to a choking hazard risk.

It says the product may contain creatine particles due to re-crystallisation. This means the product is a possible choking hazard and may cause injury to the mouth.

All batch codes and all best before dates are affected, so if you have bought the above product, do not drink it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought from for a refund.

Wonpro Travel Plus Adaptor

This rather cheap-looking universal travel plug adaptor made by Wonpro can be plugged into a wall socket with the plug pin rivets exposed – meaning there is an electric shock risk.

Do not use this product, but return it to the shop you bought it from for a refund.

Affected plugs have the model number AST-7 on the plug face and the batch number/barcode 4715706103806.
