Tesco launches cheapest school uniform

17 June 2011

Tesco has slashed the price of its school uniforms, producing a "one-price-fits-all" range for children going back to school in September.

The supermarket launched its bargain range this week at a flat price of £4.50 for all uniforms (3-16 years) and it is also currently running a 20% off discount on top of this.

Regardless of the child's age or size, parents will pay the same amount for each uniform bought from the shop. For example, a value white polo shirt costs 75p, a value girls' skirt £1.75 and a boys' sweatshirt £2. Most other supermarkets push prices up for older children.

Jan Marchant, Tesco clothing buying director, said: "We are pleased to offer our customers a whole school uniform at the lowest possible price, and certainly the most competitive price on the high street."

Although Tesco currently offers the cheapest range, Marks & Spencer is offering 20% off its school uniforms, and free delivery with online purchases, until 13 September.
