Last-minute Valentine's Day gifts and discounts

11 February 2010

A third of men plan to buy a gift for their partner this weekend – with some waiting until the ‘big day’ itself.

The good news is, it isn’t too late to order Valentine’s Day flowers or a gift, In fact, leaving it until the last minute might not be such a bad thing as you may be able to pick up a bargain.

Roses are red…

While roses are unlikely to be the cheapest flower – especially at this time of the year – for die-hard romantics they are the only bloom to give a loved one.

Many online florists offer same or next-day delivery, so it’s not too late to order online.

Marks & Spencer will deliver on Sunday 14 February itself, and delivery is free. The cheapest bouquet of roses costs £19.50 for nine white Vendela roses, or you’re look at paying £35 for a dozen pink Avalanche roses. A dozen red Freedom roses is only slightly more pricey at  £39.50.

Value Flora has a dozen traditional red roses for £18.99, including free delivery, but you have to order before 3pm today (12 February) if you want them to arrive on Valentine’s Day itself.

Interflora offers single roses in a vase for £19.99, a dozen pink roses for £29.99 or six red roses (with salal, bear grass and gypsophila.) for £29.99. You have to order before midnight on 13 February to guarantee Valentine’s Day delivery.
