 Slashing public sector pensions is a non-starter. They are entitled to the best pension their scheme can afford, and the crucial word is  afford . That said and in view of people living longer it does appear time to change from a final-salary pension to a defined contribution....

Yes we Scots enjoy certain benefits from the budget policy of our Government because they ask us what we want and - prioritise accordingly even when the handout to which your letters refer has been reduced. Our friends in England could achieve the same if they told their politicians...

 I review monthly and modify when necessary.  I have been with RBS since 1963 having moved from The Trustee Bank and have had no regrets - they have done me proud!!

 The problem is not India but the attitude of its UK staff.  They insist circumstances apply but refuse to elaborate and explain any further.  They appear not to liaise within the Bank and bully customers!

Oops! Oversight on initial comments - 50 years ago women were also advised to pay the small stamp when they got married bcause their husbands contribution would be adequate!

 Mr Khalaf talks of people losing out! What about 50 years ago when employers told women upon returning from maternity leave that the "small stamp" would be adequate for securing their pension because any shortfall would come from the contributions paid by their husbands and...

I totally agree with the comments above re the ATMs within the local branch.

I also find changing DD/Standing Orders at the branch better because it enables me to discuss the issue and others which I may not have appreciated.   I see no reason why visits to the Bank and computer...

The public are required to work within their financial limitations and the quicker Goverments/Politicians realise this the better for all! If we cannot afford to maintain our current level of public services then cuts must be made so that a true budget is in operation!

Sorry, but £9b to save £28 per household does not make sense to me - especially at this time.

At present I telephone my readings per month and receive notice for these. Recently because I have a credit my energy supplier has reduced my budget payments. Would it not be cheaper...
