Everyone with a car knows that car insurance is more expensive than ever. Premiums rose by 40% over the year to the end of March 2011. They have dropped by 0.3% since then but the average annual premium still stands at a whopping £921.
The government is to ban referral fees in personal injury cases, saying the current system encourages a compensation culture that rewards the "middle men" with a "tidy profit" but leaves the rest of the public paying for these costs.
