The trouble with flight code sharing

Flight code sharing is meant to make things cheaper for the consumer. But when it goes wrong, it can be a nightmare to determine who's responsible, as Alwynne Gwilt discovers.

I try to avoid code share flights where possible. When booking, look out for the part of information about the flight which says "operated by". Premium economy, whilst slightly more luxurious than traditional cattle class, is hardly worth the extra money.

I recently flew back from Helsinki with easyJet to Gatwick.  Crew left plane and went home.  25 passengers including myself waited for our hold luggage for which we had paid the easyJet extra charges..  Nothing happened. After 40mins we approached the "menzies baggage handlers" desk.. no one there and according to the other staff in the terminal no-one would be either.  Finally a Border UK person went looking for us and discovered the bags were still loaded on the aircraft. He organised the baggage handlers for us. After 1.45mins we got our bags, thanks to someone other than easyJet.

No apology or explanation offered.

Complained to customer services, was given the reply to someone elses complaint.  Asked fo mine and nothing happened, wrote to CEO easyJet... nothing still.  Will now let Stelios know what has happened to his airline.  At least Ryanair gives you your bags after you have paid fo them. Such customer contempt is appalling!!
