I 100% agree - there is not care....

As we are of pensionable age and living in a Council Property with only Economy 7 Storage heaters,I approached the Council to ask if we could have Gas installed because our Bills are in excess of £400 per quarter, and is definately more after this last harsh winter. My husband suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis, but when the weather is cold this affects us both, because we have to wait 12 hours before we can get any heating into the home.We could use the Booster Button but no doubt this would add another £50+ to our already huge bills and as we only live on his State Pension we struggle.
On contacting the Council, they sent out a man to check our Economy 7 Heaters to see if they work adequately (why I have no idea) and low and behold they do,so there is nothing that the Council will do to assist us by supplying gas to our home, and was informed by a Bill Sergeant that East Tilbury doesn't have Gas mains installed, which is strange because 18 out of 20 houses in our street actually have Gas.
So what are we to do?
The Local Council are about as much use as a Chocolate Teapot,so all we can do is beg borrow or steal to survive these very hard times.
Council say's that they are only obliged to supply one form of heating and unfortunately it's electricity.

The weather issue is one affecting old trains. In the North Northern Rail always have problems with the weather and timetable journeys to take longer in the winter. On the other hand TransPennine Express use the same lines and rarely have weather problems. The difference being Northern Rail's trains were built between 1983 and 1989, while TransPennine Express' were built between 2000 and 2006. Now (today) the new government has said no new train carriages are required despite the age of them as passengers numbers aren't increasing .that much.'

I find the website of use when it comes to saving money on train fares.
