From shoddy restaurant service, to rude and unhelpful shop staff, there is a myriad of reasons why complaining to management or customer services is necessary. Yet, more often, people only whine to friends and family rather than do anything about it. Why is that?
the thing is when you complain ...they never do any thing to rectify the problem!!!! welcome to customer service in the uk
On the contrary,I always complain about bad service, because if I am in a shop to purchase something, I expect to be treated correctly. It is never the owner of a business that gives bad service, it is always an employee, so the owner of the business should be told if the staff sre not up to the job!

More often than not if you complain at the point of sale all you often get is the word "Sorry". It can be mush more productive to complain to their customer sevice department, sometimes this will lead to a credit voucher to spend on your next visit, and sometimes feedback from an area manager to the point of sale.
customer services are a joke in this country
I always complain when I receive poor service, It makes you feel better!
I think it is because are so pathetic and afraid to 'make a scene' I recently went for a fish and chip supper. The fish turned out to be a giant cake of batter without fish. I complained and had a real fish served up. The neighbour next to me-who did not complain- told me his was identical. He just sat there and allowed himself to be ripped off. It is deemed to be un british to make a scene, this however plays into the hands of shoddy providers of services and goods. I will always complain if I do not get value for my money.

I completely agree with this woman, us Brits don't complain enough when it comes to customer service. I can see why though, most people are too afraid to for all sorts of reasons like they don't want to make a scene or they feel like nothing will be done about their complaint. However, there are plenty of people in this country who aren't afraid to complain about poor customer service. If I feel that I have received bad customer service, e.g. the shop assistant was very rude to me, then I will ask to speak to a supervisor or manager (preferably the latter) and complain that way and if it was extremely bad, I will follow up to make sure my complaint has been dealt with. When it comes to 'making a scene', I couldn't give a damn about it or what people think of me. I am entitled to receive excellent customer service and have the right to be vocal should I not receive this. This may sound a bit sadistic but I quite like complaining about this kind of thing, I feel good about afterwards. Also, this lady says that British folk don't complain enough about poor customer service, the Spanish are far worse. The service there isn't very good and they won't complain about it and if someone from another country spoke to the manager to complain, it would freak them out lol.
