I have no complaints about HSBC or my M&S card they administer
my current account is with barclays and they're great in terms of the deal they offer and pretty good in terms of customer service. i have a cash ISA with Alliance and Leicester who again are good but mainly because the rate is decent and the terms suit me. i haven;t have much need to contact them so no idea what customer service is like.
Generally speaking i have found halifax call centre staff pretty bad especially because when I took out a credit card a few years ago i was forcibly told that i had to get payment insurance. I felt very pressured but because i knew it wasnt complusory i was able to say no.
I have banked with Nat West (or National Provincial as it was in the 60's) for 44 years and had little to complain about. Any small complaints were dealt with quickly and entirely to my satisfaction.
I think this is very subjective - if you've no reason to contact your bank then you'll think they're great. Whereas I've been with HSBC for over 20 years - they used to be good BUT now they're down right pathetic when it comes to customer service... why dont they have counter service on Saturdays when MOST people are not working and can actually get to the bank!!! CRAP CRAp CRAP!
I have an account with Natwest and I definitely would NOT recommend them, as part of the RBS group they seem to have one of the worst customer relations attitudes that I have ever experienced with any bank I have ever had to deal with, after loosing my job due to my employers business being hit by the recession I found it necessary to cancel some direct debits only to find that they kept getting re-instated and Natwest then bounced then charging me £60 a go in illegal fees, they lie and cheat saying that they have no record of me ever cancelling them and have since refused to refund these rip off fees of theirs that now total more than £500.
This is definitely one bank that needs to have a lesson in PR, perhaps they need to keep ripping customers off to pay Sir Fred Goodwin's pension pot!
I have since refused to pay any of their fees and moved my account to Alliance and Leicester who dont charge great big illeagal rip off fees.
I have several different accounts with First Direct bank, which is a member of the HSBC group of banks, and I have always had very good service from this bank. The call centre staff are always very polite and helpful.
My current account is with RBS and has been for over 45 years. They have satisfied all my requirements and provided an excellent customer service to me over these years.
I have banked with both Barclays and HSBC for many years and have found both very efficient and encountered no problems in all that time.
i have been with A and L with their fixed 8.5% premier current account since last august, and have had no trouble with them at all. they are very helpful and i would recommend them to anyone.
I have have had NO problems with Barclays very efficient.
I have been with Barclays for over 40 years and have always found them helpful and efficient, including dealing satisfactorily and quickly with the one occasion when my card details were used fraudulently.
