Maybe people should think twice before going to university. So many go to uni and get themselves heavily into debt to obtain a third rate degree which will not improve their chances of getting a good job. Those who really want to go will be prepared to make the sacrifices required. As it is there is a very high drop out rate within the first 12 months.
I think student fees should be means-tested. It's not far to charge such extortionate fees for everybody, and most definitely won't be able to afford them. Kids today will be paying off their debts until they die.
While those from wealthier backgrounds will be able to call on the bank of mum and dad to support them while studying. I fear that those in less fortunate circumstances will have no choice but to reconsider getting a university education.
I think it's unfair to say 'those that want to go will be prepared to make the sacrifices required' - we don't all have thousands of pounds we can fall back on and yes lots of people do graduate in less mainstream subjects but surely taking away someone's choice to go to university because they are priced of it is just not on!!!!!
