Free financial planning surgeries

Free financial planning surgeries

As part of Financial Planning Week, which runs from 23 to 29 November, financial planners from across the country will be offering consumers free, no-strings attached financial planning 'surgeries'.

The scheme will provide face-to-face meetings with professional financial planners, who can cover questions such as:

  • Am I saving enough for the future/retirement?
  • When can I afford to retire?
  • What do I need to do to be debt-free?
  • What can I do to make my money work better for me?

Sue Whitbread, communications director at the Institute of Financial Planning, which organises the campaign, says: "We're delighted to in a position to offer consumers around the UK the opportunity to discuss their financial situation with an expert.

"We hope that as many people as possible take advantage of these free financial planning surgeries, so that we are not just raising awareness of the importance of planning but providing practical support to consumers."

The sessions will also be able to help consumers with their protection issues and legacy planning, answering questions such as: if something happened to me or my partner, what would the financial impact be?; how can we ensure that our money goes to our loved ones when we die?; and if I need long-term care in the future, what impact would that have on my wealth?

Appointments will be offered on a first-come, first served basis. To book your free session in advance, click here.
