Sky Movies channels added to BT TV

TV watching

BT and Sky have signed a contract that will enable BT TV customers to watch all 11 Sky Movies channels on their YouView or Vision+ boxes.

It will begin to offer Sky Movies from 26 October, with customers able to add the movie channels to their existing BT TV package for a monthly fee.

BT said TV customers will be able to bolt-on Sky Movies whether they are customers with the YouView box or the latest Vision + box, while the channels will be available in standard definition, both as streamed live channels and on-demand for those with BT Infinity fibre broadband.

However, for customers with regular BT broadband, Sky Movies will only be available on-demand.

Alex Green, director of BT TV, said: "We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Sky to enable our TV customers to enjoy Sky Movies and its superb offering of films for every taste, including the latest blockbusters. "We believe this gives a tremendous boost to our BT TV film offering."

In July, Sky launched a box allows people to stream Sky Sports and Sky Movies channels on-demand, without a standard Sky subscription.

The NOW TV box costs £9.99 and allows users to purchase movies and sports passes. Sky Movies costs £8.99 a month for three months (rising to £15 thereafter); while a one-day Sky Sports pass costs £9.99.

A spokesman for BT said it will be revealing pricing details shortly.
