First Direct offers £125 for switching
First Direct is offering a £125 incentive to switch to its current account to chase away the January blues.
The limited-offer deal from the bank is an improvement on its usual £100 joining bonus but is only available until 31 January.
The 1st Account and its incentive is available to those who haven't banked with First Direct before, switch their banking, including standing orders and direct debits and get an income of £1,500 into the account each month for the first three months.
The bank is still offering its service guarantee of £100 to leave First Direct in the first six months if you're not entirely satisfied - but only 0.01% of their customers took up that offer last year.
First Direct has been voted the most trusted provider for three years running in the Moneywise Customer Service Awards.

An account opened with a clearing bank (few building societies offer current accounts) that provides the ability to draw cash (usually via a debit card) or cheques from the account. Some pay fairly minimal rates of interest if the account is in credit. Most current accounts insist your monthly income (salary or pension) is paid directly in each month and they offer a number of optional services – such as overdrafts and charge cards – which are negotiable but will incur fees.
