Privatising the profits, nationalising the losses

It seems unthinkable but that is exactly what it happening at the moment. In recent times banks have made huge profits by lending irresponsibly to homeowners that had little chance of surviving an economic downturn.

Credit crunch one year on

I must admit I'm really feeling the pain of the credit crunch one year on. When I took out a mortgage with my friend back in June 2006 it was a 4.9% two-year fixed rate with the Bank of Scotland. At £250 a month each it was easy to make the repayments.

Well, July has sped past hasn't it? And has my life magically got better? No!

property scam graystones development

I invested in a landbanking property firm graystones development in July 2007 and did not receive any paperwork - title deeds transfer document at all. Then in march I received an email from Mr Alan BAtty from graydev. requesting me to re sign another contract as the previous one was invalid being over 3 months without the transaction being finalised.

Are we blind to the best offers?

The BBC News have a feature this morning about a market stall holder in Derby that is offering customers the chance to purchase a £5 note for just £4. You would be hard pressed to find anywhere else today where you could get a 25% return on your investment within a matter of seconds, but despite this most people reject his offer as they believe it’s too good to be true.

Make the effort and complain – it may be worth your while

Let’s face facts, we're a nation that loves to moan. Nothing escapes our attention, from the weather to the increasing cost of food and fuel, but when it comes to poor customer service and substandard products we just don’t formalise our gripes enough.

Why I like my bank

It's official, I can't deny it any more, I like my bank.

There, I've said it. I like HSBC.

Accident, Illness and Redundancy cover

I am now just over 26 weeks pregnant, so starting to think about all of the dull and boring things that would make my and my families lives easier in case of emergency. My husband and I are in the process of making wills, have the drafts back and just need to get the documents witnessed.

Inflation rates.

The target inflation figure of 2%, like many other targets of this Government, is a figure plucked out of the deep blue sky.

It is preposterous to think that if inflation in the rest of the world increases that somehow the United Kingdom will not be affected because the former Chancellor in his great wisdom has decreed that it should not rise above 2%.

The true cost of running a freezer

Freezers are a great invention don’t get me wrong but they are rather expensive to run. There is the obvious cost of purchasing a freezer along with possibly having somebody come around and fit it.
