?This measures the standard deviation of a fund's excess returns over the returns of an index or benchmark portfolio. Information ratio
?This is a useful risk-adjusted measure of actively managed fund performance. It is calculated by deducting the returns of the fund's benchmark from the fund's overall returns, then dividing the result by its tracking error. The higher the Information Ratio the better. It is generally considered that a figure of 0.5 reflects a good performance, 0.75 very good, and 1.00 outstanding.

She joined LGIM from Threadneedle Investment Management, where she spent five years managing global and EAFE equity portfolios. Prior to this, she worked as a global fund manager at Standard Life Investments. She also has experience as an equity trader and as a management consultant. Esther has a BA from Oxford University in politics, philosophy and economics, an MA in international studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Wharton School. She is also a CFA charterholder
Lance Phillips29/09/2013Lance is responsible for LGIM’s Active Equity team. He joined LGIM in 2013 from Standard Life Investments where he worked for 12 years, initially as Head of Global Equities and subsequently with added responsibility for the Overseas Equity teams. Throughout his time at Standard Life Investments he was the fund manager for the core global equity portfolio. Prior to that he was a portfolio manager and analyst at UBS Asset Management and has spent time in the venture capital, investment banking, and management consulting industries. He has a BA from Oxford University in engineering science and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
