?This measures the standard deviation of a fund's excess returns over the returns of an index or benchmark portfolio. At 3 and above the the manager will be deploying a more active investment style.

Information ratio
?This is a useful risk-adjusted measure of actively managed fund performance. It is calculated by deducting the returns of the fund's benchmark from the fund's overall returns, then dividing the result by its tracking error. The higher the Information Ratio the better. It is generally considered that a figure of 0.5 reflects a good performance, 0.75 very good, and 1.00 outstanding.

Christof Stegmann31/05/2006Born in the Swiss city of Bern in 1961, Christof Stegmann obtained his master of science degree at his home town university. He started his career as an economist working for Swiss Re in 1987 and later joined Bank Leu where he worked as an economist and portfolio manager. In 1995 he joined IST Investmentstiftung für Personalvorsorge as senior fixed income portfolio manager. Christof joined Swisscanto AM in 2001, Bank Julius Bär in 2004 and finally to Swiss & Global in 2009 where he is currently a senior fixed income portfolio manager. He uses a top down view in his portfolio and uses cash as a tactical element of his stratey. Christof is a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA) and member of the Swiss Financial Analysts Association (SFAA).
Mario Fraefel31/05/2006Born in Zurich in 1964, Mario Fraefel obtained his degree from the KV Business School located in his home town. At the early age of sixteen, in 1980, he started his career as a trainee at UBS progressing to portfolio manager where he worked for sixteen years. Joining Swisscanto AM in 1996 he became senior fixed income portfolio manager, a position which he has also held in companies, Julius Bär AM in 2004 and Swiss & Global in 2009. He is currently the head of fixed income credit at Swiss & Global. His investment style implies an actively managed credit fund investing across the full spectrum of credit ratings. Aside from his professional life, he enjoys golfing and skiing.
