I am a 69 years young, now a resident of Australia currently on holiday in the UK and required a single trip insurance from the UK to Australia - flight only.
Travelling home in 2008. I am having great difficulty finding a company who will insure me as I have not resided in the UK for the last 6 months.
I have only been in the country for two months when I had go back home for family reasons, no address in the UK & We are unable to provide comprehensive cover after you have departed from your home in Australia - so no insurance.
I bought a One-Way ticket when leaving Australia as I had no idea how long my dying relie would last, did not think this would so much of a problem as this.
Very limited for choice, only two so far:-
Worldwide travel - 0870 112 8100
JBI - 0118 970 3781
Even contacting the BIBA was without it drawbacks for they are not allowed by UK law to suggest or recommend a company even if they are a member of BIBA of whom they know can help!!
After 4 days still no Travel Insurance.

I've always used InsureAndGo for travel insurance. I can only recommend them generically, but worth checking as they are pretty good.

I've only used TravelGuard and book my hotels through TripCents Hotels. I've been happy with them and never had any problems getting insurance. However, I don't buy insurance for every trip. For me, it depends on the time of year I'll be traveling. For instance if I'm going to Florida during the height of hurricane season I'll go ahead and get it. Otherwise, its a risk I'm willing to take.
