Can anybody help. I worked for 16 years for Nottinghamshire County Council and changed my job and joined the prison service in 1997. I transferred my pension years and was granted like-for-like. I have recently been dismissed on medical inefficiency rules and refused a medical retirement which I am appealing. My combined reconable service is 29 years, however, the PCSPS will only pay 13 years compensation because my date of joining the prison service was the 1st April 1997 and on this date they say the rules changed and I am only eligiable to have my prison service years for compensation and not my other reconable service. The 1st April 1997 was a Tuesday and I could not start on the Monday because it was Easter bank holiday. This would appear to be unfair. Does anybody know of any rules or law changes that would assist me in winning my arguement with PCSPS.
