To keep down petrol costs ,drive your car by the rev.counter & not the speedometer. i.e. Endeavor to keep the the engine RPM between 2000 & 2500 which will encourage you to be in the correct gear all the time & make an enormous difference to petrol consumption.

Foodwise. Use online codes (online shopping)/ coupons for instore shopping.
Watch on tv at moment excellent programme called economy gastronomy, they talk about making food go longer with easy to make recipes and really does save alot of money. Excellent way to cut back on spending in supermarket. Using this way to cook also cuts down your utility bills too!!
Grow you own herbs / veg / fruit and use, whatever you can't use give to neighbours / friends and you'll be suprised what you receive back from them in return. I've receive nice bottles of wine / box of chocs ect just for giving my friends my excesses of fruit veg which we could use.

Buy Sainsbury's 10p shower jel and use as hand wash jel in an old dispenser bottle!
My kids (especially the youngest play rather than wash using to much, so if a bottle full only costs 10p does not matter if they are a bit wasteful while learning to wash properly
smells nice, just only comes in green!

Tubes of hand-cream, moisturiser, foundation cream etc. often "appear" empty when there's still a fair amount of the contents at the bottom and along the sides of the tube.
Leaving the cap in place, cut the bottom section off and you can access the remainder of the cream.
If you can't use all of it immediately, cover the open end with clingfilm and it will remain fresh for several days - and ensure you use every last drop.

With the cost of petrol duty about to increase by 3p as from 1st April 10, then make sure you fill up before hand. Also with the price of petrol and diesel rising at levels well above inflation, why not try and save money by actually reducing the amount of fuel you use. This can be achieved by a few simple steps below:
Remove unnecessary items
Remove any unnecessary clutter in the boot and back seats. The lighter the load, the more miles per gallon (MPG) you will achieve.
Be a smooth driver!
By diving in a smooth manner and trying to avoid fast acceleration and heavy braking, you will use less fuel and hence improve you MPG.
Tyre pressure
Ensure that you tyres are inflated to the correct level as recommended by the manufacturer and regularly check their level. Tyres that are not inflated correctly will reduce your fuel efficiency.
Do not speed excessively
Drive at the recommended speed limit. It is said that the optimal speed for fuel consumption is approximately 56 MPH. This means that speeds in excess of this will result in less fuel efficiency by approximately 10% for each additional 5MPH in excess of this optimal speed.
Insurance
Insurance is a major cost when running a car, however many people simply do not shop around and/or research different quote options before their next renewal. There are many factors that can help reduce your premium such as the level of excess that you are willing to pay in the event of a claim. Also most companies will offer you a reduced premium if you will be parking your car in a garage overnight, or have a specific car alarm or imobiliser.
No need to “Warm up” the car
There is no need to “warm up” the engine before driving – it simply wastes fuel! Instead, drive off as gently as you can for the first five minutes of the trip.
Get fit, save money and help save the environment, all in one go!
Think! – do you really need to use the car to go for a short trip? Why not walk where possible. It will help you stay fit, save you money and also help reduce pollution levels. If you cannot avoid using the car, then plan ahead and combine all you short journeys into one wherever possible. By doing this, you will have greater fuel efficiency than several short journeys.
