Legality of a Vendor refusing a bank cheque

I recently had to pay a holiday company (Portland) my final balance. Their invoice states that they only accept debit cards (by phone), a building society cheque or a credit card (at extra cost); but not a Bank cheque, despite the fact we are not travelling for another 3 months. Is this legal?
