Hey, I bank with Coventry Building Society and I want to recommend this software called Rapport ( From a company called Trusteer) that protects me against fraud when I am doing my online banking.

I was asked to download it this morning. My cousin banks with the Royal Bank of Scotland and he also has the software and a few weeks ago it stopped someone trying to steal his login details. He told me about it and said I should take protecting myself more seriously when doing my banking online.

So this morning I goto the Coventry website to login and I see that they are also offering it. So I am finally doing somthing about protecting myself and have downloaded it.

This is what Coventry Building Society say about it:

"This software provides additional security to help protect you against online fraud and identity theft. It does this by identifying that you are on the genuine Coventry Building Society website and not a fake website, it then provides a ‘secure tunnel' for data to pass between your computer and the Coventry. This software provides additional security to help protect you against online fraud and identity theft. We need all the help we can get to protect our hard earned dosh from criminals so if you bank at either Royal Bank of Scotland or Coventry  then download and use it.

Keep Safe Online :-)

Regrettably, not everyone is so sure that this software is itself impervious to attack and it can have adverse effects on other programs running on your PC.

so far I am not noticing any adverse effects on other programs on my pc... if you have had a bad experience then it may have been somthing on your PC? Not sure major high street banks would offer this if it had known problems...

Hi jonnyprentice, good job prospects/pension etc at Coventry/RBS/Trusteer? Sorry, I didn't catch which one you work for?

I also have downloaded this software and have not noticed any adverse effects on my pc.

It was recommended by my bank (Alliance & Leicester)

Once downloaded you can also protect other websites where you input sensitive data, so is another layer of security when online shopping.

No, I dont have a vested interest in the software - I just welcome the extra security.
