Best credit card perks?

Thu, 19/06/2008 - 11:01

My missus has been complaining about not getting enough 'extras' from her current credit card, so is looking to change.

I've heard the new Capital One card is a pretty good choice, but are we missing something?

I take it you mean the id theft service perk on Capital One cards? I wouldn't chose a card based on something like this, most (may be all?) credit card providers give refunds if your card is used by fraudsters as long as you haven't done a jeremy clarkson and been really stupid with your details! The Capital One card does give people free alerts from one of the credit agencies so you get an email if someone tries to use your details to apply for a loan or something, but unless you are really paranoid about id theft this isn't a reason to get this card! One the other hand, Capital One does have interest-free offers on balance transfers and for new usage at the moment untl March next year, so it's not a bad choice if you are prepared to switch after that time to avoid interest of 19.9%!

the ID theft perk isn't all that, its something you can get free anyway. My favourite perk has got to be at the moment cashback on petrol
