Rather than take it at face value I expect you need to take a careful read through the small print and then if it isn't clear ask the questions on the phone and write down the answers and name of the advisor giving them. For a final security measure you write after the phone call and confirm back to them what they said, as you understood it, sending this letter with your signed proposal form will make it difficult for the insurer to deny that they made whatever promises they made.
Watch out too for the excess - you may be able to make a claim for £100 and not have this harm your NCB but you may have to pay half the claim anyway.
After spending time using the "compare" sites on the internet and the frustration of being quoted a higher rate once I clicked through to the companies website, I called in at a local brokers office. I found that not only could he arrange insurance more cheaply but I could take away my certificate there and then. Don't rely on the internet all of the time.

Hi, I'm shopping around for car insurance at the moment and have noticed some "special" features... namely, Direct Line says your premiums WON"T go up if you make a claim for minor stuff (like scratched paintwork I suppose)... To my mind, this means that I can claim for stuff that would only cost £100 or less maybe to fix, and Direct line won't penalise me with higher premiums. But when if i move insurance then I suppose the new insurance firm would penalise me?
Is this just Direct Lines way of keeping customers? Or is it a good deal, because lets face it i don't dare claim on my curent no claims bonus deal?
Other than direct line, does any other company offer this sort of deak, that is maybe more competitive than direct line?
Opinions please!
