1. CASHPOINTER, FREE

This app will show you the nearest cash point in the area you're in. It will also tell you if you'll be charged to use the machine and how to get there.

2. MYSUPERMARKET MOBILE, FREE

If you are in the supermarket and unsure if you're getting the best deal, use this app. It allows you to compare the cost of products across the main supermarkets as well as showing you if there is a cheaper alternative in the store you're in.

3. ONAVO, FREE

The developers claim to save users 80% on their data plan on both smartphones and iPads with this app. It routes everything you do on the internet through its servers, where the information is compressed and then sent to your device, so you pay less in data usage fees.

4. SKYPE, FREE

The Skype app allows you to have video calls with other Skype users either in the UK or abroad at no cost. An excellent app for the iPad, it also works on mobile phones.

Within two minutes of downloading this app, you'll have made your money back. It turns costly 0870, 0800 and 0845 numbers into local numbers - saving you around 35p a minute on calls.

Save up to 10% on your car's fuel bills with this app that uses GPS technology to analyse your driving style and then give eco-driving tips and advice on how to maintain your car to get more miles out of your tank.

7. HOT DEALS UK, 69P

This app rounds up all the top deals and promotions offered by different retailers and services on products as varied as butter and computer games. You can save your favourite offers and email them to friends and family.

8. MORTGAGE MENTOR, £1.49

If you're buying a house, looking to remortgage or just want to shorten the length of your existing mortage, this app could help you save money on your mortgage.

9. ACCOUNT TRACKER, £1.99

Time to spring clean your finances? If so, this app could help. You enter your accounts and billing dates and it will send you bill reminders and alerts when an account is about to go overdrawn.

10. NOSEY PARKER, £1.99

This app will show you all the free parking spaces in the area you're in. Very useful if you are driving in a new location and don't want to pay expensive parking costs.
