Full marks to the wide awake banks

Its not often that I give a thumbs up to a bank but when I was at my parents last weekend they had three phone calls within an hour from different card providers. All three of their cards had been used fraudulently and the bank security systems saved them hundreds of pounds. My father insists that he shreds all of the statements but I'm sure he'll double check the bins now.

My Lloyds Bank credit card was used fraudulently. The fraudster rang the bank with a change of address, answering all the security questions, and ran up debts of some £4700. When I tried to use the card it was blocked and it took me ages to sort out. I had never used much more than £100 a month and they let it run over the credit limit without noticing any unusual activity. They even rang me up during the process of sorting it out saying I owed money!
