Will things get better for savers?
Moneywise TV reports from campaign group Save our Savers demonstration outside the bank of England.
Tired of rubbish interest rates and few accounts that beat inflation, savers are finally showing the banks they're not prepared to take low interest lying down. Today campaign group Save our Savers is holding a demonstration outside the bank of England.
A giant piggy bank, known as Bertie, was smashed by the group as a representation of what's happening to savers' money.
More generally Save our Savers wants the bank of England to increase the base rate – currently at an all time low
The demonstration, attended by about 20-30 members shows there are plenty of consumers unhappy with the current situation:
Unfortunately, for the mean time, the toxic combination of high inflation and a low base rate looks here to stay - but at least this demonstration has given unhappy savers a voice.
